Questions You May Be Wondering
1) Is online (virtual) counselling actually effective?
Yes! Online counselling is an effective means of therapy. Virtual sessions allow you to engage in therapy from the comfort and privacy of your own space, which can actually help some people feel more relaxed and open.
The most important factor in successful therapy is the quality of the therapeutic relationship, not the format. Through secure video sessions, we are still able to build meaningful connection, trust, and forward momentum in your growth.
2) What is counselling?
Counselling is a purposeful and collaborative conversation that creates space for insight, healing, and meaningful change. It offers an environment of acceptance and support where you can explore your experiences, strengthen relationships, and move toward a fuller, more grounded life.
3) Is therapy right for me?
It’s completely normal to feel unsure about starting therapy. You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit from counselling. Many people seek therapy simply because they want to understand themselves better, improve relationships, navigate transitions, or grow emotionally and spiritually.
4) Does insurance cover counselling?
Many extended health benefit plans in British Columbia and across Canada cover counselling services provided by a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). However, coverage varies depending on your specific insurance plan and employer. Some plans cover CCCs, while others only cover Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs) or psychologists.
Before booking, I recommend contacting your insurance provider and asking:
- Do you cover counselling provided by a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC)?
- Are there any annual limits or requirements for reimbursement?
I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) through the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).
My CCC Registration Number: 11264183
After each session, you’ll receive a receipt that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. If you’re unsure whether your plan covers CCC services, it’s always best to check with your insurer before your first appointment.
5) What are your fees and payment options?
Standard counselling sessions are 50 minutes and are billed at $150 per session. Reduced rates may be available for clergy and their immediate family members. Payment is accepted by credit card on file or Interac e-Transfer and is due at the time of service. Receipts are provided for insurance and tax purposes.
